Our Story
The poppi story
In 2015, Allison Ellsworth began working in her Dallas kitchen on a sparkling drink made with fruit juice and prebiotics. She brought the bottled recipe to a neighborhood farmers’ market, where it caught the attention of a Whole Foods buyer.
Allison and her husband, Stephen, later took that early idea to Shark Tank. poppi’s official timeline records their 2018 agreement with Rohan Oza, followed by the rebrand that introduced poppi. The same timeline dates the brand’s launch to 2020 and its move into the PepsiCo family to 2025.
Inside every can
poppi states that each can includes apple cider vinegar along with prebiotics sourced from cassava root fiber and agave inulin. Products across the range are listed at no more than 5g of sugar and no more than 35 calories per can.
The full flavor lineup is Gluten-Free Certification Organization certified, Non-GMO Project Verified, and OU Kosher. Some ingredients are organic, although the range is not certified organic; it is described as vegan without carrying a vegan certification.
Together, those choices express the idea behind the line: “the freedom to love soda again.”
